An 84-year-old man named Okan Işık, who went out to buy bread in Antalya, lost his life after being caught under a digger while crossing the street. The horrifying incident was captured on security cameras second by second. Işık's wife, who noticed the incident from their balcony, was devastated to learn that the victim was her husband when she saw their son crying.
A heartbreaking accident occurred yesterday around 5:00 PM on Yıldız Street in the Yıldız neighborhood of Muratpaşa district in Antalya. While infrastructure work was being carried out by a company subcontracted to the Antalya Water and Wastewater Administration (ASAT), Okan Işık (84), who had left his house to buy bread, attempted to cross the road.
ELDERLY MAN CRUSHED UNDER EXCAVATOR AND LOST HIS LIFE
During the reverse maneuver of the excavator operator Erkan G. (37), Işık was caught under the excavator. Teams were dispatched to the scene upon the notification of those nearby. The medical team determined that Işık had lost his life. Işık's son, who arrived at the scene, wept for a long time by his father's lifeless body.
EXCAVATOR OPERATOR SURRENDERED
After the accident, excavator operator Erkan G., who distanced himself due to the reactions, returned shortly after and surrendered to the police. Erkan G., who was taken into custody, was brought to the police station. After the work of the crime scene investigation teams, Okan Işık's body was taken to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy.
WIFE LEARNED ABOUT HUSBAND'S DEATH ON THE BALCONY
Meanwhile, Okan Işık's wife, who noticed the incident on the street from her balcony, broke down in tears upon realizing that the deceased was her husband when she saw her son crying.

On the other hand, the accident was captured by the security camera of a nearby business. The footage showed Okan Işık waiting for the excavator to pass after walking on the sidewalk to cross the road, and how the excavator, after dumping its load, reversed and caught Okan Işık underneath. The images also included the excavator operator and bystanders rushing to help after the collision.
