An 88-year-old woman living in Italy suffered a heart attack and passed away after a water company mistakenly withdrew 300,000 TL from her account and requested an additional payment. Investigations following the incident revealed that the woman's actual bill was around 2,000 TL. The water company acknowledged its mistake in the incident and announced that they would compensate the family for the loss.
88-year-old Caterina Giovinazzo, who lives in Sanremo, Italy, was shocked by the high water bill that arrived at her home and fell ill.
DIED IN INTENSIVE CARE
The elderly woman, who noticed that £7,000 (300,000 TL) had been withdrawn from her account due to the bill, suffered a heart attack and was hospitalized. After a 40-day intensive care process, she passed away.
THE COMPANY ADMITTED FAULT
Investigations conducted after the incident revealed that the elderly woman's actual water bill was around 2,000 TL. The water company admitted that they were at fault in this incident and stated that they would be there for her family to compensate for the damages incurred.
