Minister Uraloglu announced that with the completion of Alacabel Tunnel, travel time will decrease by 20 minutes and the route will be shortened by 7 kilometers; annual savings of 910 million lira and a reduction of 7,151 tons of carbon emissions will be achieved.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made a statement regarding the ongoing tunnel works at Alacabel, one of the important transit points on the route between Konya and Antalya. Minister Uraloğlu announced that with the completion of the Alacabel Tunnel, the travel time will be reduced by 20 minutes and the route will be shortened by 7 kilometers compared to the existing road.
TOTAL LENGTH IS 19.2 KILOMETERS
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made a statement regarding the ongoing tunnel works at Alacabel, one of the important transit points on the route between Konya and Antalya.
Minister Uraloğlu said, "We are building the Alacabel Tunnel as a double tube with a length of 7,360 meters. Asphalt works continue in the tunnel where excavation and lining concrete works have been completed. Together with our 11.8 kilometers of connection roads, the total length of our project reaches 19.2 kilometers. We are building our tunnel and connection roads to the standard of a divided road with bituminous hot mix pavement."
WILL FACILITATE TRANSPORTATION IN HARSH WINTER CONDITIONS
Noting that the Alacabel Tunnel and its connection roads pass at an elevation approximately 427 meters lower than the existing road grade, Uraloğlu stated that the project is important for transportation, especially in harsh winter conditions. Uraloğlu said, "By preventing the adversities experienced especially during the winter months at the Alacabel passage, we will provide safe and uninterrupted transportation between Konya and Antalya."
THE ROUTE BETWEEN KONYA AND ANTALYA WILL BE SHORTENED BY 20 MINUTES
Stating that the route will be shortened by 7 kilometers compared to the existing road upon the completion of the project, Uraloğlu said, "With the Alacabel Tunnel, we will reduce the travel time between Konya and Antalya by 20 minutes. Thus, while raising the transportation standard, we will enable our drivers to save time and fuel."
Also touching upon the economic and environmental contributions of the project, Uraloğlu stated, "With the Alacabel Tunnel, we will save a total of 910 million liras annually, including 768 million liras from time and 142 million liras from fuel. We will also reduce carbon emissions by 7,151 tons annually."
