The minister expressed that 3,200 people are working in the area, most of whom are from the local population. Bayraktar noted that the region has gained significant economic value and that the hopes of young people for the future have increased.

The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, was in Şırnak at Gabar, an area with oil wells, on May 19th, Youth and Sports Day. Speaking to TV100 reporter Canan Altıntaş, Minister Bayraktar emphasized that the region, once associated with terrorism, is now an economic value and a point of employment, making important statements.

"THE REGION ONCE ASSOCIATED WITH TERRORISM IS NOW ASSOCIATED WITH OIL AND EMPLOYMENT"

In his statements, Minister Bayraktar said: We are in Gabar. This region was once known as an area associated with terrorism. As the region has been liberated from terrorism, economic activities here have started to increase. We said in 2016 that we should move with a different vision in oil and natural gas exploration in Turkey. We said that there would be no place left unvisited, unexplored, or without drilling work, and this is a reflection of that.

"3,200 PEOPLE WORK IN OIL FIELDS"

We built 680 kilometers of roads to these mountains that had never been visited before. As a result of all this, we have reached a point where we produce 81,000 barrels of oil daily in these fields. This means a very significant economic value, but beyond that, I believe this work has different effects. As this region is cleared of terrorism, our youth will also have dreams and hopes for the future. A total of 3,200 people work here in the entire region. Most of them are locals. This makes it much more meaningful. Additionally, there are many economic reflections of this place. This is a project that makes us very proud, and being here on this special day is even more beautiful.
