As part of the investigation initiated by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding allegations of "corruption" and "irregularities" against the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, detention orders were issued for 157 individuals. In an operation carried out in the morning, many people, including former İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer and CHP İzmir Provincial Chairman Şenol Aslanoğlu, were taken into custody.

ARREST WARRANT FOR 157 PEOPLE
It has been learned that an arrest warrant has been issued for 157 people within the scope of the investigation. Many individuals, including former İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer, were detained by the teams of the Anti-Terror Branch Directorate.
PROVINCIAL CHAIRMAN ALSO DETAINED
Among those detained is CHP İzmir Provincial Chairman Şenol Aslanoğlu.
FIRST STATEMENT FROM CHP AFTER THE OPERATION
CHP Deputy Chairman Murat Bakan stated the following in a statement made on his social media account; "We woke up again to a dawn operation. Our former Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer, senior bureaucrats of the period, and our Provincial Chairman Şenol Aslanoğlu were detained at the first light of the morning. We are facing a process similar to what happened in Istanbul.
"THESE DETENTIONS ARE A CLEAR POLITICAL PREFERENCE"
When we look at the names of those detained, it is seen that the allegations directed at these individuals are issues that have been discussed in the public for a long time, repeatedly explained, investigated, or debated in the political arena. There is no suspicion of escape. The addresses of these people are known; they are individuals who are in front of the public every day. If they were called to give a statement, they would certainly go. This detention carried out at dawn is not a legal obligation, but a clear political preference.

Indeed, President Erdoğan recently stated, 'Not only Istanbul but other provinces are also in disaster,' signaling these operations from the palace. The picture we witness today is the product of a judicial system that acts on orders, not the law. We are fighting for the independence of the judiciary. But when we confront the realities, we see that this still remains a wish. Now we are going to İzmir on the first flight. We will stand by our friends and be with them. We will continue our solidarity and struggle against this lawlessness with determination.
