Galatasaray's goalkeeper Muslera remained on the bench in the match against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League. This means that it is the first time in Muslera's Galatasaray career that he has been benched in a match without injury or suspension. The experienced goalkeeper has been wearing the yellow-red jersey since 2011 and has always been on the field in Super League and European cup matches, except for Ziraat Turkey Cup matches.
Galatasaray, in the round of 16 play-off of the UEFA Europa League, bid farewell to Europe by drawing 2-2 against the Dutch representative AZ Alkmaar in the second leg after losing the first match 4-1.
EXPERIENCED A FIRST IN HIS CAREER
Uruguayan goalkeeper Fernando Muslera remained on the bench for the first time in a match without any injuries in his Galatasaray career. Muslera, who transferred to the yellow-red team in 2011, has always been on the field in Super League and European cup matches during periods when he was not injured or suspended, except for the rotation matches in the Ziraat Turkey Cup. By remaining on the bench in the AZ Alkmaar match, Muslera experienced a first in his Galatasaray career.
The experienced goalkeeper, who is in his 14th season at Galatasaray, had only sat on the bench during the 2020-2021 season while undergoing rehabilitation after an anterior cruciate ligament injury, in the two matches against Barcelona in the UEFA Europa League and in the Super League matches against Konyaspor and Beşiktaş.
