A woman in Samsun was taken into custody on the allegation that she threw her baby, whom she gave birth to at home, into the trash; however, during searches conducted by the police in accordance with the woman's statement, no baby was found in the trash containers and waste station.

An incident that tugged at the heartstrings occurred in Samsun. In the Fevzi Çakmak neighborhood of the İlkadım district, it was claimed that H.C. (41), a mother of three who had previously married and divorced, gave birth alone at home while concealing her pregnancy.

'ALLEGATION THAT SHE THREW THE BABY SHE GAVE BIRTH TO IN SECRET INTO THE TRASH'

According to the allegation, after giving birth, H.C. fell ill and applied to the Samsun Women's and Children's Hospital on October 14. During the checks at the hospital, it was understood that the woman had given birth. Upon realizing that the baby was missing, the situation was reported to the police.

"I PUT IT IN A BAG AND THREW IT IN THE TRASH"

Teams from the Homicide Bureau conducted a search in the trash containers and waste station based on the woman's statement, but the baby could not be found. After being treated at the hospital, H.C., who was discharged today, was taken into custody by the Homicide Bureau teams. In her first statement, H.C. said she gave birth to the baby at home, stating, "I wrapped it in a cloth in the bathroom so that my other children wouldn't hear. I hid it in the bathroom. The next day, when I went to breastfeed, I realized it was dead. I put it in a bag and threw it in the trash."

SHE CHANGED HER STATEMENT

After completing her procedures at the police station, the woman was referred to the Samsun Courthouse. In her initial statement, she said the baby was dead, but in her statement at the prosecutor's office, she indicated that the baby was born alive. The suspect H.C., who was brought before the duty court, was arrested and sent to Samsun Type T Closed Prison.

Furthermore, it was claimed that the baby stayed at home for 4-5 days before being thrown into the trash. It was suggested that H.C. might have considered having a DNA test done after the birth due to suspicions that the person she became pregnant with might have been involved with someone else, and that she thought about taking responsibility for the child. It was also claimed that H.C. had an abortion once last year.
