In the FIBA 2025 Women's European Championship, the Turkish National Women's Basketball Team, which played its second match in Group A in Piraeus, Greece, achieved its first victory in the tournament by defeating Switzerland 91-67.
The Crescent-Stars started the match quickly, finishing the first period with a 14-point lead at 27-13 after a 9-0 run. The National Team also started the second period with points, and although they couldn't achieve the desired shooting percentage, especially in three-point shots, they managed to go into halftime leading 51-34 with a three-pointer from Sevgi Uzun with 1.38 minutes left in the first half. The third period, which started with mutual points, was also completed by the Nationals with a score of 68-53.
In the final period, the opposing team regrouped and started scoring, reducing the 25-point gap to 10 points with a basket foul by Schwarz with 7.17 minutes left, bringing the score to 62-72. After this point, Turkey, especially effective with McCowan, won the match 91-67.
In the national team, Teaira McCowan was the top scorer of the match with 19 points, and she also grabbed 12 rebounds, finishing the game with a double-double.
