Relatives of Nurhan Ör, the owner of a famous carpet factory operating in the Hereke region of Kocaeli's Körfez district, reported that they had not heard from him since November 7, 2023.
THEY DISMEMBERED HIS BODY AND DISSOLVED IT IN ACID
In the police investigation, it was determined that after examining approximately a thousand hours of security camera footage, Ör's last contact was with his high school friend Işık Eren. The police, who identified that Nurhan Ör went to a gallery belonging to Eren in Istanbul's Sultanbeyli district and did not leave from there, found his vehicle abandoned in Kocaeli's Gebze district. In their research, the teams discovered that Ör was beaten and knocked unconscious at the gallery in Sultanbeyli, transported in the trunk of a vehicle to a farm in Kocaeli's Kartepe district, where his body was dismembered and dissolved in acid.
Those arrested as a result of the police's work, including Işık Eren, Ahmet Toraman, Bahadır Toraman, Ceyhun Azak, Emrah Dakal, and Ferdi Gün, were detained by the court. A memorial prayer was held for Ör on November 15 of last year. Instead of a coffin, flowers were placed on the bier during the funeral.
PROSECUTOR ANNOUNCED THE OPINION
A case was opened against the defendants at the Kocaeli 4th High Criminal Court regarding the incident. In the hearing held on April 22, the prosecutor requested that the six defendants be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of 'intentional murder with premeditation by concealing evidence.'
VERDICT HEARING
The verdict hearing of the case was held today. The hearing was attended by the detained defendants and their lawyers, as well as Nurhan Ör's family and their lawyers. During the hearing, Nurhan Ör's brothers, Erhan Ör and Serhan Ör, were given the floor. Erhan and Serhan Ör stated that they wanted the defendants to receive the heaviest punishment. The Ör family's lawyer, Ayhan Cesur, said, "I have lost not only a client but also a friend. I share the same pain as this family. Those who murdered Nurhan deprived us of even a single hair from him. We held a virtual funeral ceremony."
"HE WAS MY CONFIDANT SINCE CHILDHOOD"
Işık Eren, one of the defendants and a childhood friend of Nurhan Ör, denied the accusations, stating, "This is a very tragic and strange event. It is an unprecedented incident in the world. Of course, I understand the family's pain. But Nurhan was also my childhood friend. He was my business partner in recent times. I spent 7-8 years with him in school. He was not just my childhood friend; he was my confidant since childhood. I am an educated person. I am currently studying philosophy and taking basic law courses. Who killed Nurhan Ör in a way that is unworthy of human dignity? This should be structured as an organization chart, but it is not in the file. I do not accept the accusations. I request my acquittal," he said.
THEY DENIED THE ACCUSATIONS
During the hearing, defendants Emrah Dakal, Ceyhun Azak, Bahadır Toraman, and Ahmet Toraman also denied the accusations. Defendant Ferdi Gün, who had confessed in earlier hearings, stated, "I believe the incident has been clarified with the statement I gave. No matter how much he denies it, it is clear that Işık Eren planned it. Even though Ceyhun Azak constantly changes his statement and makes accusations, it is certain that he is involved. He is not someone who will regret it. He is the one who determined that Nurhan was dead. I was in shock because I knew that we would be released after signing a promissory note, and this situation occurred. The one who experimented by throwing a bone piece into acid a day before the incident was Ceyhun Azak himself. I am the biggest victim here. I divorced my wife. I haven't seen my daughter for 2 years," he said.
AGGRAVATED LIFE SENTENCE FOR 6 DEFENDANTS
The court panel, which listened to the parties, announced its decision regarding the case. The court decided to sentence all six defendants to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of 'intentional murder with premeditation by concealing evidence.' No reductions were applied to the defendants. Additionally, Ferdi Gün and Ceyhun Azak were sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison for 'possessing an unlicensed firearm' and fined 900 lira each.
