In 2018, eight police officers appeared before a judge for the crime of 'misuse of duty' related to the incident in which Dorukhan Büyükışık was found dead at a construction site in Izmir. Büyükışık's father stated in court, "Today, we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg. Either the police or the construction owners killed my son."

In İzmir, 8 police officers appeared before a judge for the crime of 'misuse of duty' related to the incident in which Dorukhan Büyükışık (26) was found dead at a construction site in 2018.

In İzmir, 8 police officers, who were charged with "misuse of duty" regarding the death of Dorukhan Büyükışık at a construction site 7 years ago, appeared before a judge for the first time.

At the hearing at the İzmir 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance, the defendants A.K., M.E., F.S., D.Ö.Ö., D.A., and H.A., as well as the complainant father Ethem Büyükışık and the attorneys for both parties were present. The defendants H.V. and İ.K., who were out of town, did not attend the hearing as their statements were taken by instruction.

"WE WENT TO THE VICTIM'S CAR LATER"

During the hearing, A.K., who was the scene investigation officer on the date of the incident, stated that when he arrived at the scene, the prosecutor, doctor, and team members were already there, saying, "The area was cordoned off. My team was wearing scene investigation clothes. There were cigarette butts and trash at the scene, but they were dusty because it was an open area. I did not go up to the area where the cell phone was because I have a herniated disc. We went to the victim's car later. The vehicle was far from the scene. We were told that the person walked to the scene. We also examined the vehicle."

"I HAD PULLED THE VEHICLE AS EVIDENCE"

D.Ö.Ö., who was also on scene investigation duty on the date of the incident, stated that he started recording video when he arrived at the scene, saying, "I filmed the exterior of the vehicle. I also recorded video while going up. I filmed all floors in detail. A video of the autopsy was also recorded. We packaged the evidence and brought it to the vehicle. I had pulled the vehicle as evidence."

"I THOUGHT IT WAS A MURDER UNTIL THE ADMINISTRATIVE INVESTIGATION STARTED"

Retired police officer F.S., who was on the research team at the Narlıdere District Police Department on the date of the incident, stated that they spoke with workers and inquired about the incident, saying, "My chief inspector told me, 'It is highly likely that it will be considered a murder.' I did not prepare the reports. The footage is taken by the police station in that area. The District Police Chief also came to the scene. I thought it was a murder until the administrative investigation started."

GRIEVING FATHER SAID 'I AM A COMPLAINANT'

The complainant father Ethem Büyükışık stated that he filed a complaint against 48 people at the forensic medicine institution for allegedly preparing false reports four times.

Büyükışık expressed that it was impossible for his son to have fallen at the scene, stating that he realized his son had been murdered as soon as he saw him, emphasizing that the scene was his area of expertise.

Büyükışık, who claimed that the Narlıdere District Police Department did not obtain any camera footage, said, "The footage of Dorukhan going up is fake. It has been tampered with. If the police defendants had looked at the camera footage, they could have seen who left my son there. At least 20 people witnessed the incident that night. Statements from the guard and the officials there were taken 2.5-3 years later. According to 112, a heart attack report was recorded. Because there are no signs of a fall from a height. The body of someone who falls from 27 meters would be shattered, but my son's body was not damaged. Today, we see the tip of the iceberg here. Once the investigation by the General Directorate of Security is completed, others will also be prosecuted." he said.

"MY SON WAS KILLED BY EITHER THE POLICE OR THE CONSTRUCTION OWNERS"

Father Büyükışık, who stated that his son was a victim of murder, said, "It has been confirmed that my son was killed at 01:30 on the night of the incident. We have identified some individuals based on certain information about who came there. We will present this to your court. There were over 30 police officers there that day. The construction owners and their son were also there at night. At 02:30, the police arrived at the address. They carried my son with a tarp. The Narlıdere District Police Department did not obtain any camera footage. A fake video was prepared. None of the defendants went to the location of the cameras. My son was killed either by the police or the construction owners. If it were one of the workers, they would have surrendered on the first day. They also destroyed the surrounding MOBESE cameras. There were at least 20 witnesses to the incident that night. Some of them are sent away early. Some are taken away while the scene investigation continues. They are sending the suspects who will be prosecuted in the murder case back to their homes." he said.

THE HEARING WAS ADJOURNED

After the hearing, father Büyükışık stated in front of the courthouse that a fake forensic report and a scene investigation report had been prepared.

After the defenses, the judge adjourned the hearing to address the deficiencies in the case.
