The U.S. Federal Reserve (FED) kept its policy interest rate steady at 4.50, in line with market expectations, despite pressure from Donald Trump to "lower the interest rate." This means that the FED has not changed the interest rate for four consecutive meetings.
The Federal Reserve kept the policy interest rate unchanged at 4.50 for the fourth time.
FED KEPT THE INTEREST RATE UNCHANGED
The Federal Reserve (Fed) announced its fourth interest rate decision for 2025. The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) kept the policy interest rate unchanged in the range of 4.25-4.50, in line with market expectations.
THE SAME DECISION FOR THE FOURTH TIME
The FOMC, which had reduced the interest rate by 25 basis points in December and November of last year, had lowered the rate by 50 basis points in September. So far in 2025, it has preferred to keep the interest rate unchanged in all meetings. Thus, the FED has kept the interest rate unchanged for four consecutive meetings.
