Due to the drought experienced in the last months of last year, the water level of Kocaeli's lifeline Yuvacık Dam, which had dropped to 3 percent, has completely filled up, reaching a capacity rate of 97.99 percent after heavy rainfall in winter and spring. In the city's other important water source, Namazgah Dam, the water level was recorded at 64.36 percent.
According to the data of Kocaeli Water and Sewerage Administration (ISU), the occupancy rate in Yuvacık Dam, which is the city's lifeline, reached 97.99 percent in the latest measurements.
In Namazgah Dam in Kandıra, another important water source of Kocaeli, the water level was recorded as 64.36 percent.
FROM 3 PERCENT TO FULL CAPACITY
Due to the severe drought that affected the region in the last months of the previous year, the water level in Yuvacık Dam approached a critical limit, with occupancy rates dropping to 6 percent, and even to 3 percent in some areas. In June of the previous year, the water level in the dam was measured at 63 percent.
With the winter season, the heavy snowfall affecting the water basin and the downpours in the spring months rapidly raised the water level in the dam, eliminating the city's water concerns.
