Security camera footage from the Daran-2 Base related to the murder of Narin Güran in Diyarbakır has been enhanced in high resolution by a private company abroad. Salim Güran's lawyer, Onur Akdağ, claimed that the footage shows Nevzat Bahtiyar greeting Narin Güran and taking her to the barn before throwing her down. The footage has been submitted to the court to be presented to the Court of Cassation.

In relation to the murder of Narin Güran in Diyarbakır, the camera footage from the Daran-2 base area has been enhanced in high resolution. The images, enhanced by a special firm abroad at the request of uncle Salim Güran's lawyer Onur Akdağ, were presented to the Diyarbakır Regional Court of Appeals to be sent to the Court of Cassation. Explaining the footage on the screen to DHA, Lawyer Akdağ stated that the large shadow he identified as Nevzat Bahtiyar confronted the small shadow he referred to as Narin Güran before reaching the top, took it to the place described as Bahtiyar's barn, and threw it down, adding that there was no movement around Arif Güran's house and barn.

After going missing in the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood of the Bağlar district on August 21, 2024, the lifeless body of Narin Güran was found on the 19th day of the search efforts, covered with three stones weighing 30, 25, and 20 kilograms, and hidden among bushes in a stream bed. A case was opened against four people at the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court regarding Narin Güran's death. Uncle Salim Güran, whose vehicle contained DNA and hair samples belonging to Narin, along with his mother Yüksel Güran and brother Enes Güran, were taken into custody, and neighbors Nevzat Bahtiyar, who confessed to carrying the body to the stream bed, faced a request for aggravated life imprisonment for 'intentional murder of a child in complicity.' In the second hearing of the case held on December 28, aggravated life sentences were given to Salim Güran, Enes Güran, and Yüksel Güran for 'intentional murder of a child in complicity,' while Nevzat Bahtiyar received a 4-year and 6-month prison sentence for 'destroying, concealing, or altering evidence.' The court ruled for the continuation of the defendants' detention.

THE SENTENCE GIVEN BY THE COURT WAS UPHELD BY A MAJORITY VOTE

The appeals filed by the lawyers of the detained defendants, the lawyers of the complainant, father Arif Güran, and the appeals submitted by the Ministry of Family and Social Services and the Diyarbakır Bar Association as 'participants' were examined at the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court. The case file, consisting of 17 folders, along with the appeal applications, was sent to the 1st Criminal Chamber of the Diyarbakır Regional Court of Appeals for evaluation. The 1st Criminal Chamber of the Regional Court of Appeals, which reviewed the file and applications, upheld the prison sentences given to the four defendants by a majority vote in its decision on May 26. Additionally, the President of the Court also stated the reasons for the decision and placed a dissenting opinion. In his dissent, the President of the Court noted that the camera recordings, base reports, and DNA findings in the file were inadequately and insufficiently examined, emphasizing that the movements of Nevzat Bahtiyar needed to be clarified through detailed video analysis. He stressed that the acceptance of the mother, brother, and uncle having killed Narin together and in a short time was contrary to common sense and the ordinary course of life. Furthermore, he expressed that critical evidence such as PSA and hair samples had not been sufficiently investigated scientifically, and due to all these inadequate examinations, the decision should be overturned.

INDIA-BASED FORENSIC FIRM EXAMINED THE FOOTAGE

Upon the request of Salim Güran's lawyer Onur Akdağ, the India-based Brilliant Forensic Investigation (BFI) firm examined the camera recordings from the Daran-2 military base and its surroundings related to the case of Narin Güran's death. BFI experts also conducted a technical analysis on the original footage by evaluating reports prepared by Professor Dirk Labudde from Germany and the National Criminal Bureau. In the detailed 122-page report, shadows and human movements detected in the camera footage were analyzed. The technical analysis revealed that the school camera was 4 minutes ahead of real time, while the Daran-2 military base camera was 6 minutes and 45 seconds ahead. The report was sent to the Court of Cassation by Lawyer Onur Akdağ as an attachment to the appeal petition on June 29. The petition requested the release of his client and a hearing for the examination of the case. Additionally, it was requested that Nevzat Bahtiyar be inadequately punished, and therefore he should be separately penalized for 'intentional killing of a child,' 'sexual abuse of a child,' and 'deprivation of liberty.'

New footage that will change the course of the Narin Güran murder case

"NEAR BAHTIYAR'S HOUSE."

The report indicated that at 15:15:09 on August 21, 2024, Narin Güran was wearing a dark-colored t-shirt and shorts, carrying a cross-body bag, and that this footage corresponded to 15:11:09 in real time. It was noted that Narin then proceeded along the path, and while walking on the path, a large human-like shadow was detected near Nevzat Bahtiyar's house, with a high probability of belonging to him. The footage showed that the large and small shadows were very close to each other at 15:19:49, which could indicate a possible confrontation, and that the small shadow suddenly disappeared at 15:19:54, while the large shadow moved towards the barn, strengthening the possibility that Narin was abducted there.

"NO HUMAN OR VEHICLE MOVEMENT AROUND THE HOUSE"

The report emphasized that there was no human movement detected regarding Narin Güran's return home between 15:16:00 and 15:40:45, and that there was also no human or vehicle movement around Arif Güran's house during the same time frame. It was stated that the statement of the suspect Nevzat Bahtiyar, claiming to have taken Narin's lifeless body from Arif Güran's house to his barn, did not match the camera recordings, and that no movement of Nevzat Bahtiyar was detected in the enhanced footage along that route. The report noted that at 15:41:27, a dark-colored vehicle, possibly red, was detected leaving the village on a gravel road approximately 300 meters outside the village, which was the only vehicle to leave the village at the time of the incident. It was reported that the movement of the vehicle was also captured by the security camera of the Daran-2 military base.

The BFI report also highlighted that errors were found in the calculations and video analyses in the previously prepared reports by the National Criminal Bureau (UKB) and German expert Dirk Labudde, indicating that their reliability was weak.

IMPROVED IMAGES IN 8K RESOLUTION WERE SENT TO THE COURT OF CASSATION

The 8K resolution enhanced camera footage of the Daran-2 base area, which Narin Güran's father, Arif Güran, requested in court and was shown in the courtroom by the presiding judge, was delivered by the company to lawyer Onur Akdağ. Akdağ presented the footage to the Diyarbakır Regional Court of Appeal to be sent to the Court of Cassation. Lawyer Onur Akdağ explained the enhanced footage to DHA on screen. In the footage, Lawyer Onur Akdağ stated that the large shadow referred to as Nevzat Bahtiyar confronted the small shadow referred to as Narin Güran before reaching the top, took her to a place described as Bahtiyar's barn, and threw her down, adding that there was no movement around Arif Güran's house and barn.

"MANY DARK POINTS HAVE NOT BEEN REVEALED"

Lawyer Onur Akdağ stated that during the 11-month process, it could not be determined who, how, and for what reason Narin Güran was killed, saying, "At this stage, the case is in the Court of Cassation process. However, despite this Court of Cassation process, that is, despite the investigation phase, prosecution phase, trial phase, and appeal phase, many dark points regarding this child's murder have still not been revealed. This is what people are curious about. Who killed this child, where was the child killed, and what was the motive for this child's murder? Since the investigation phase, we have been representing Salim Güran in the case. Unfortunately, the investigation was not conducted effectively. The presumption of innocence was violated. The right not to be subjected to public disgrace was violated, and an effective investigation was not conducted. The family of Nevzat Bahtiyar was not interrogated effectively in the same manner as the Güran family. There are allegations of evidence tampering, and allegations of torture against the family. Despite all these allegations, the trial was completed in this way," he said.

"PSA WAS NOT INVESTIGATED"

Lawyer Akdağ pointed out that PSA was found in Narin Güran's private area, stating, "While we are curious about the motive behind the child's murder, the PSA issue was very important. I had requested the investigation of the PSA issue from the court between the first and second hearings. The PSA issue was not investigated. Because PSA was found in the child's most private area. Nevertheless, this PSA could have been the strongest evidence to reveal a perpetrator, and the child was missing for 19 days. When the child was found after 19 days, the presence of PSA in the child's most private area was a matter worth investigating. However, this issue was not investigated. Now, during the trial process, we had requested the technical examination of the digital data of Salim and especially Nevzat Bahtiyar. We mentioned Salim Güran's internet activity. It was also noted that Nevzat Bahtiyar's internet activity was not intense at all, and his phone was like that of a dead person because he was busy committing murder, his hands were full, we told the court. In the appeal phase, all digital evidence emerged along with Tuncay Beşikçi's report. As a result, despite Salim Güran's statements attributed to the crime by Nevzat Bahtiyar, it was revealed that Salim Güran's phone was heavily used for internet access, searching for gold prices, accessing WhatsApp, Instagram, and other websites, while Nevzat Bahtiyar did not access the internet at all during the moments of the murder, and it was revealed that Salim Güran's phone was charging at the exact moments of the murder, and he had made a payment. Despite all this, unfortunately, the appeal court again sentenced all three defendants to aggravated life imprisonment for the intentional murder of the child," he said.

"NARIN DISAPPEARS DUE TO AN INTERVENTION LIKE THROWING HER TO THE GROUND IN THE BARN"

Akdağ stated that they identified the event structure in the report, using the following expressions: "In the enhanced footage we obtained, we determined that Nevzat Bahtiyar was present around his barn and house at approximately 15:10 in real-time, and for the first time, Narin Güran was on the path at approximately 15:11:30, with dung present there. At 15:11:40, we detected that Narin Güran's path was blocked by Nevzat Bahtiyar, and as a result, around 15:13, an intervention was made near the barn, and Narin Güran disappears due to an intervention like throwing her to the ground in the barn. We sent these images all over Turkey. Now, the Daran-2 camera, as you know, is a very poor resolution camera. The rotating cameras were deleted. We were told that the airport camera was not working that day. The chain of negligence is endless. However, we did not give up. In the end, thanks to a friend of ours, the image was enhanced to 8K resolution by a software engineer who is an expert in the field and works at a good institution in the United States. People will watch this in the footage. We see that Nevzat Bahtiyar, due to his location, was near his barn before the child even attempted to go to the path, and when Narin attempted to go to the path, we see her on the school camera. At 15:09, she separates from her four cousins. After separating on the school camera, she is blocked by Nevzat Bahtiyar, who most likely deceives her and takes her towards his barn, and we see that such an act of throwing her to a place occurs, which we see clearly in our camera without leaving any room for doubt."

"THE GÜRAN FAMILY WAS DEMONIZED"

Additionally, we reiterate that the PSA should be investigated. We have submitted this to the Court of Cassation as of today. We have also submitted the original of our footage and report to the Court of Cassation through the 1st Criminal Chamber of Appeals today. Now, because the investigation was conducted very poorly, the Güran family was completely criminalized and demonized. When Nevzat Bahtiyar was found, they believed his story. Because Salim had been declared a murderer. That is, with the declaration of Salim as a murderer and the DNA reports being publicly displayed in the media, Nevzat Bahtiyar memorized those statements and perfected them. When he came, he always talked about Salim. Salim did this, Salim did that, Salim took her. In fact, there is only one truth. Nevzat Bahtiyar has three statements during the investigation phase. In the first, he says he took her from the car. In the second, he says he brought her to his house. In the third, he says he took her from Arif Güran's house. Now, if you did not commit this murder, if you have no involvement in this murder, there is only one truth. So where did you take this child from? This is something a person would ask and should be questioned. However, no one questioned it, and with the enhanced footage, we actually determined that the child did not go to the path at all, that she was intervened by Nevzat Bahtiyar, and that she was taken by Nevzat Bahtiyar from the beginning of the path towards his barn."

"A MURDER IS BEING QUESTIONED AT THE MOMENTS OF THE MURDER"

Nevzat Bahtiyar is questioning a murder at the very moments of the murder.

```
The murder of a famous DJ. If we had seen this on Salim Güran's phone, Salim Güran would have already been declared the killer. But unfortunately, when it comes to Nevzat Bahtiyar, there is a double standard and favoritism at play. Moreover, we mentioned that Nevzat Bahtiyar and Salim haven't spoken for 3 months, and now I am supposed to confess my crime, my sin, to an adult stranger whom I haven't spoken to for 3 months and hand over the child's body. This is completely against the natural course of life. I hope justice is served. We want justice to be served. We want no interference in the judiciary. "
