The water crisis is escalating in the Süleymanpaşa and Marmaraereğlisi districts of Tekirdağ. Although water is being supplied to some neighborhoods, many residents are still lining up with containers in front of fountains and water tankers to obtain water.

Citizens in the Kumbağ neighborhood of Süleymanpaşa district in Tekirdağ and the Dereağzı neighborhood in Marmaraereğlisi have been struggling with water shortages for about a month. While some neighborhoods in the city are receiving water, the people in these two areas are still queuing to get water from tankers and street fountains.

THEY WAITED IN LINE WITH CANS

In footage captured by mobile phone cameras, citizens were seen waiting in long lines with their cans. Citizens expressing their frustration towards Tekirdağ Metropolitan Mayor Candan Yüceer shared on social media, "There is no water, and there is no patience left."

SUMMER RESIDENTS ARE LEAVING THE CITY

On the other hand, the sight of tons of water flowing wastefully from burst pipes in some streets of the neighborhoods suffering from water shortages astonished onlookers. Citizens were practically outraged by these images. Due to the ongoing water crisis, the need for cleaning, hygiene, and drinking water has become a serious issue in many households, and authorities have been urged to find a permanent solution to the problem. It has been reported that many summer residents are leaving the city due to the water issue, and heavy traffic was observed heading from Tekirdağ to Istanbul not only on weekends but also during the week.
