The new president of the Turkish Football Federation, Ibrahim Hacıosmanoğlu, is taking his first action after being elected. Hacıosmanoğlu's first move will be to change the foreign player limit.
The Ordinary Financial and Elective General Assembly of the Turkish Football Federation, which took place in Ankara, elected İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu as the new President of the TFF, receiving 134 out of 281 votes cast by delegates.
FIRST ACTION WILL BE CHANGING THE FOREIGNER RULE
It has been learned that Hacıosmanoğlu, who stated before the election that he would change the foreigner limit, will make this his first action. It is expected that Hacıosmanoğlu's administration will announce the new foreigner limit in a short period of time, and it is stated that the limit will be increased.
WHAT DID HE SAY BEFORE THE ELECTION?
Hacıosmanoğlu, who made statements about the issue before the election, said, "A lot of technical studies should be done on that matter. In my opinion, the quality is more important than the limit. Decisions should be made without putting the clubs in a difficult situation, we have our work. We will implement it when we come."
WHAT IS THE CURRENT FOREIGNER RULE?
- 1) Starting from the 2024-2025 season, the number of foreign players to be listed in the A Team roster will be reduced from 14 to 12 in the first three consecutive seasons, and then to 11 in the following two seasons. There will be no restriction on the match day roster.
- 2) The number of players to be listed in the A Team roster has been reduced from 30 to 26 in order to enable clubs to use their transfer budgets more efficiently.
