The first hearing of the case concerning the murder of Mezdeke dance group member Aynur Kanbur, who lost her life in an armed attack in front of her home in Şişli 10 years ago, will be held.

AGGRAVATED LIFE SENTENCE SOUGHT FOR FOUR DEFENDANTS

In the case to be heard at Istanbul Justice Palace 9th High Criminal Court, aggravated life imprisonment is sought for defendants Bülent Gündüz, Fazlı Kar, Serdar Kar, and Yüksel Kar on the charge of “premeditated murder.” For Gündüz, a prison sentence of 2 to 4 years is also sought on the charge of “unlicensed weapon possession.”

CAMERA FOOTAGE AND PHONE RECORDS EXAMINED

In the indictment, it was stated that Gündüz boarded the Metrobus at Avcılar Metrobus Stop at 19:01 on the day of the incident, got off in Mecidiyeköy at 19:47, and may have turned off his phone during the journey.

It was assessed that the clothing in social media photos resembled the jacket of the suspect in the incident footage, and that the ear, face, and nose structure were also consistent with Gündüz.

HE SAID HE INTRODUCED HIMSELF AS A COURIER

In the statement of Gündüz, who is said to have confessed to the murder, it was recorded that he said he decided to kill Kanbur because he found her lifestyle contrary to family values.

It was reported that Gündüz, who was stated to have previously gone to Kanbur’s address, walked to the building on the day of the incident, waited after seeing Kanbur on the balcony, and introduced himself as a courier over the intercom.

According to the indictment, Gündüz said that when Kanbur recognized him and started shouting, he fired 3-4 shots from a distance of about two steps.

HE SAID HE THREW THE WEAPON INTO THE SEA

Gündüz recounted that after the attack he went by bus to his workplace in Hisarüstü, and 2-3 days later threw the weapon he used in the murder into the sea while traveling from Emirgan to Kanlıca. He claimed that no one had incited him.

The indictment also stated that an on-site inspection was conducted at the scene on June 11.

OTHER DEFENDANTS’ COMMUNICATION RECORDS IN THE INDICTMENT

In examinations regarding phone records, it was recorded that Gündüz had contact with Fazlı Kar and Serdar Kar.

It was stated that Serdar Kar made his last call just before the murder, his phone was off until 10:13 the next day, and he sent two messages to Gündüz during this period.

It was reported that Yüksel Kar went to the US three days before the incident, turned off his phone just before the murder, and that there was no record of calls until noon the next day. The indictment also included that heavy GPRS usage was detected after the incident.
