All preparations in Ankara have been completed for the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government, which will start tomorrow hosted by Turkey. While the Presidential Complex, which will host leaders from 32 member countries, counts down to the historic meeting, U.S. President Donald Trump's Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Michael P. Duffey landed at Esenboğa Airport.
The capital Ankara is preparing to host a massive summit where every detail, from security to logistics and communication to technology, has been meticulously planned. The Presidential Complex will host heads of state and government from 32 NATO member countries, along with thousands of diplomats, journalists, and guests over two days.
FIRST FROM THE US DELEGATION ARRIVED: DEPUTY DEFENSE SECRETARY
One of the first high-profile figures to arrive in the capital before the summit, US Deputy Defense Secretary Michael P. Duffey, was welcomed at Esenboğa Airport and offered tea.
PRESIDENT TRUMP ARRIVES TOMORROW: CRITICAL TOPICS ON THE AGENDA
One of the most anticipated figures of the summit, US President Donald Trump's plane will touch down at Esenboğa Airport tomorrow. Communications Director Burhanettin Duran, in his statement regarding Trump's visit, highlighted the importance of this official visit, which will take place at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
According to Duran's statement, bilateral talks in Ankara will cover all dimensions of relations between Turkey and the US, two allies and strategic partners, including defense, trade, and investments. In addition to steps that could be taken to deepen existing cooperation, a comprehensive exchange of views on global and regional developments will also take place.
General summit sessions will address strengthening NATO's deterrence and defense capacity, Euro-Atlantic security, defense spending, and strategic goals regarding the alliance's future.
HIGH-LEVEL SECURITY PERIMETER WITH OVER 56,000 PERSONNEL
For the massive event, where Esenboğa, Ankara, and Mürted airports will serve participants, security is extremely tight across Ankara. Security measures have been raised to the highest level, especially around Esenboğa Airport, where Trump will land, and the Presidential Complex, where leaders will gather. While additional measures are being implemented in airspace, ground transportation, and critical points, a massive force of 56,927 personnel, including 48,841 police, 7,447 gendarmes, and 639 cybersecurity staff, is deployed for the security of the event.
MASSIVE INTERNATIONAL MEDIA CENTER AT THE NATION'S LIBRARY
At the Presidential Complex, where the heart of the summit will beat, meeting rooms and bilateral discussion areas have been prepared with state-of-the-art communication infrastructure. For this event, which will draw the world's attention, a massive International Media Center has been set up at the Presidential Nation's Library.
The center, which will serve local and foreign press members, includes 1,800 workspaces, 40 editing rooms, and over 100 live broadcast points, 54 of which are fixed. The center, featuring 11 press conference rooms with the largest seating 500 people, will also host broadcasts from TRT at 26 different points using 96 cameras and 18 live broadcast vehicles. Thousands of people will work in protocol, health, translation, and technical support services throughout the event to ensure the summit runs flawlessly.
