Morocco became the first team to secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the FIFA 2026 World Cup Round of 16 by defeating host nation Canada 3-0.

In the first match of the Round of 16, host nation Canada faced Morocco at NRG Stadium in Houston, USA.

GOALS CAME IN THE SECOND HALF

There were no goals in the first half of the match officiated by English referee Michael Oliver. In the second half, the goal-scoring started with Izzetdin Unahi. Unahi put Morocco ahead 1-0 with a goal from outside the penalty area in the 50th minute. When the clock showed 82 minutes, Unahi struck again to make it 2-0. The player who determined the final score was Sufyan Rahimi. Morocco, who won 3-0 with Rahimi's goal from a counter-attack in the 90+8th minute, became the first country to advance to the last eight in the tournament.
