President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is making statements at his party's parliamentary group meeting. Responding to the challenge from CHP Leader Özgür Özel, Erdoğan said, "He is challenging us in his own way; one should first look in the mirror." Erdoğan also commented on the recording of the security camera during İmamoğlu's meeting at the hotel, saying, "They said they would be transparent, but they became tape recorders."

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is speaking at his party's parliamentary group meeting.

Highlights from President Erdoğan's speeches are as follows:

I greet you with my warmest feelings. I hope our group meeting and our evaluations will be beneficial for our country, our nation, and our democracy. I send my love and greetings to our citizens who are following us. Last Wednesday, we celebrated April 23. I express my gratitude on behalf of all the representatives who have worked and sweated for Turkey's independence since 1920. I also remember Gazi Mustafa Kemal and all the representatives in the first parliament with respect on this occasion.

WE CHANGED THE FLOW OF HISTORY

Sunday, April 27, was the 18th anniversary of the outrageous attack on the national will. We bravely defended Turkish democracy. That day, we actually changed the flow of history. The February 7 MIT crisis, the Gezi events, and the failed coup of July 15 are behind the courageous stance we took on the night of April 27. The AK Party is a party established and grown by the nation. If the AK Party has an owner, it is our nation itself. We will never blame the nation; we will always look at ourselves. We will focus on what we did wrong, what we did incompletely. We will embrace our nation more strongly. God forbid, otherwise, we will turn into a party that melts away like a candle, which is a common example in Turkish political life.

RESPONSE TO ÖZEL: HE IS DOING POLITICS WITH THE WHISTLE OF FETÖ MEMBERS

Political freeloading is the style of the opposition in our country. They have no projects for their countries or nations, yet they fall into the dream of power. When they get slapped by the voters at the ballot box, they start blaming the nation. This is a toxic opposition understanding that lowers the quality of Turkish democracy. The CHP is the largest opposition party according to the number of seats in parliament. You look at the person at the head of the CHP, and he thinks he is doing politics. He tries to come to the agenda through cheap methods by attacking our Minister of National Education for not allowing him to use high school students, by confronting our Minister of Interior for exposing his lies, and by attacking our security forces for not allowing street terrorism. He declares the fraudsters who wrap around his party like an octopus as heroes of democracy. The words he utters are completely empty. He is doing politics with the whistle of FETÖ members. By crying to foreign media organizations, he is embarrassing not only himself but also his party and his country.

“WE ARE NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT THE CHP THAT IS SINKING”

Özel's predecessor was supposed to be the president, but he became a historical figure in a dubious way. There is neither anyone knocking on his door nor anyone asking. Until the CHP Chairman gets his act together, we condemn this person to flounder in his uncouth style. Remember, there is a famous saying that those who have no explanation will have humor. It is not possible to describe what is happening in the CHP in any other way. They were supposed to be transparent, but they turned out to be bandits. We are not complaining about the CHP that is gradually sinking.
