The Ministry of National Defense has decided to discharge five lieutenants from the Turkish Armed Forces who shouted the slogan "We are soldiers of Mustafa Kemal" while crossing swords at the graduation ceremony of the Army War College. Following the decision, it was learned that the lieutenants' initial reaction was, "It was what we expected. Long live the homeland."

In the official graduation ceremony of the Army Military Academy, following the sword oath, the Ministry of National Defense (MSB) decided to expel 5 lieutenants from the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) as part of the initiated disciplinary investigation.

In a statement from the ministry, it was said, "In our Turkish Armed Forces, which prioritize the preservation and maintenance of established discipline, there should be no doubt that no action, event, or situation contrary to discipline will be tolerated."

After the official graduation ceremony of the Army Military Academy on August 30, 2024, a disciplinary investigation was initiated when the lieutenants shouted the slogan "We are soldiers of Mustafa Kemal" while crossing swords. Five lieutenants were referred to the High Disciplinary Board with a request for "separation from the Turkish Armed Forces." An investigation was also launched against the battalion and company commanders during the ceremony.
