A 17-year-old named B.Y., who killed his mother, father, sister, and grandmother with a gun in Eyüpsultan, Istanbul, stated in his testimony that his father asked him, "Did you take one of the gold pieces?" after discovering that one of the gold items in the house was missing, and that he committed the murders during the ensuing argument. Additionally, it was reported that the suspect was found in possession of gold and a firearm.
Sevinç İ., who came to her sister's house on the third floor of a three-story apartment in the Eyüpsultan district, reported the situation to the police when she saw her sister, brother-in-law, and niece lying on the ground in a pool of blood. Upon the notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the address.
RELATIVES EXPERIENCED A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN
In the inspection conducted by the teams, it was determined that grandmother Fatma İnce (71), father Mehmet Yenigün (43), mother Aysun Yenigün (42), and their child Dilan Yenigün (12) were shot and killed. Relatives of the family, who came to the house upon hearing the news, experienced a nervous breakdown.
Police teams, who took security measures on the street and in the building, determined that the family's 17-year-old son B.Y. had fled the house after the incident. After the crime scene investigations, the bodies were taken to the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy.
HE WAS DETAINED IN BURSA
Following this, the Homicide Bureau teams took action. Police teams determined that the murder suspect B.Y. had fled to Bursa shortly after the incident through technical and physical surveillance. The suspect B.Y. was captured in an operation. B.Y., who was brought to Istanbul, confessed to the murders during his initial interrogation.
THE STATEMENT OF THE 17-YEAR-OLD SUSPECT HAS EMERGED
In the investigations, the murder suspect B.Y. claimed to the police that he committed the murders due to the gold being counted at home. According to allegations, father Mehmet Yenigün was counting the gold at home. When one of the counted gold pieces was found to be missing, he turned to B.Y. and said, 'Did you take the gold?' In his statement to the police, B.Y. claimed that a dispute arose over the words 'Did you take the gold?' and that he committed the murders following the ensuing argument. It is being investigated whether the information provided by the suspect is accurate. A comprehensive investigation into the incident is ongoing.
