Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş came to Çağlayan Courthouse today to support Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is set to give a statement due to his recent remarks about Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek and for exposing an expert witness involved in most CHP cases over the past eight days.

The Mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem İmamoğlu, will give a statement today at the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan as part of two separate investigations regarding terrorism offenses. Mansur Yavaş, the Mayor of Ankara, also came to the Istanbul Courthouse to support İmamoğlu.

"MORE LAW MEANS..."

Speaking to reporters here, Yavaş stated, "I don't think there is anything that warrants a lawsuit against İmamoğlu. Hopefully, from now on, the law will be as it should be because for our country, it is not necessary for the law to take orders from politicians; it should not give that impression either. It undermines trust in the law in the country. It also cuts off investments that will come to the country. More law means more democracy, more bread, and more jobs. But the weaker the law becomes, both the economy collapses, and all our values are trampled underfoot. Hopefully, we will all reach the days when the law works fully, and the separation of powers operates in its true sense. I extend my respects to all of you..."

"WE KNOW THOSE TIMES TOO"

In response to the reporter's statement, "This investigation was actually opened due to the words he said about the expert and the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. I would like to ask you to evaluate these statements," Mansur Yavaş replied: "Lawyers will evaluate that. They will assess what it means. Because we know the times when no one listened to court decisions even during the trial or after a court decision was made."
