The "corruption" investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the Bayrampaşa Municipality has led to the detention of Mayor Hasan Mutlu. Mutlu, who is in custody, made a statement on his official social media account.

"I STAND TALL, MY FOREHEAD IS CLEAN"

Speaking about the investigation and his detention, Mutlu used the following expressions in his statement: "Dear neighbors, I have only served Bayrampaşa and you, my esteemed fellow citizens, until today. I have never thought of taking a step back on this path we embarked on to be worthy of you, and I will not think of it.

I stand tall, my forehead is clean. I have no business for which I cannot account. The detention I am experiencing today is merely a result of our efforts to bring services to Bayrampaşa after 30 years. What has happened is nothing but political operations and baseless slanders.

Rest assured; together with you, the valuable people of Bayrampaşa, we will overcome these slanders and indignities. I once again entrust myself to the conscience and support of the people of Bayrampaşa."
