In the Balçova district of İzmir, a 16-year-old attacker and his father have been arrested in connection with the attack on a police station, which resulted in the martyrdom of 2 of our police officers and injuries to 3 people, including 2 police officers.
The investigation into the attack on the police station in the Balçova district of İzmir is ongoing.
MINORS AMONG THE SUSPECTS RELEASED
As part of the investigation related to the incident, 16 of the 27 suspects detained, who are under the age of 18, were released after their statements were taken at the İzmir Police Department's Child Branch and they were brought to the courthouse.
REQUEST FOR ARREST OF 9 SUSPECTS INCLUDING THE ATTACKER
Following the incident, the 16-year-old attacker E.B., along with his mother, father, and 8 other suspects, completed their procedures at the İzmir Provincial Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch. The suspects were brought to the courthouse. The attacker E.B., who had completed his treatment at the hospital, was discharged and taken to the courthouse. E.B., along with his parents, was brought to court with a request for the arrest of 9 suspects and judicial control for 2 others.
ATTACKER AND FATHER ARRESTED
The court of peace on duty decided to arrest the attacker E.B. and his father among the suspects brought before it. The procedures for the other suspects at the court are still ongoing.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On September 8 in Balçova, during the attack on the Salih İşgören Police Station carried out by E.B. with a shotgun, the first-class police chief inspector Muhsin Aydemir and police officer Hasan Akın were martyred, while police officers Ömer Amilağ and Murat Dağlı and one civilian were injured. The attacker E.B. was also neutralized, injured, during the ensuing conflict.
