CONCERT PREPARATIONS MADE FOR SPRING FESTIVAL
The DEM Party Ceylanpınar Municipality began preparations to hold a public concert on May 10 as part of spring festivities. An agreement was reached with an organization company for the event planned to take place at Cumhuriyet Square. It was stated that Kurdish artists Xece, Hamit Karadeniz, and Koma Serekaniye were scheduled to perform at the concert.
CLAIM OF TURKISH FLAG DEMAND SPARKED DISPUTE
According to the claim, DEM Party Ceylanpınar Mayor Uğur Kahraman requested that a large Turkish flag be hung on the stage to be set up by the organization company. It was alleged that the organization company instead offered to decorate only the concert area with Turkish flags, not the stage. It was claimed that Mayor Kahraman insisted on hanging a large Turkish flag on the stage, and after a disagreement between the parties, the concert was canceled.
STATEMENT FROM THE MUNICIPALITY
Ceylanpınar Mayor Uğur Kahraman announced on his social media account that the concert had been postponed. The statement said, "The concert program planned by the Ceylanpınar Municipality today as part of the spring festival events has been canceled as of today due to unforeseen and compelling reasons and has been postponed to a later date." It was stated that a detailed statement on the matter would be made later.
