FLAMES ARE SPREADING RAPIDLY IN BURSA A forest fire broke out in the area between the Gürsu TOKİ Housing in İpekyolu Neighborhood and the Ağlaşan Neighborhood of Kestel district for an undetermined reason. Upon receiving reports from witnesses who saw the fire rapidly growing due to the wind, the Forest Regional Directorate and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the scene.
While teams continue to intervene from the air and ground to control the fire, citizens are also supporting the teams by intervening in the fire.
OFFICIAL VEHICLES ALMOST CAUGHT FIRE Meanwhile, citizens fled from the flames that were growing and heading towards them due to the wind. The official vehicles of Gürsu District Governor Murat Kütük and Gürsu Mayor Mustafa Işık, who came to the fire area for inspection, were caught in the midst of the flames. The official drivers also tried to get the vehicles out from the rapidly advancing flames.
In a written statement made by Kestel Municipality regarding the fire, it was stated that extinguishing efforts are ongoing for the fire in the Ağlaşan Neighborhood of Kestel district, and it was requested that "citizens residing in the Ağlaşan Neighborhood and surrounding areas comply with the warnings made by the authorities and take necessary precautions against all possible announcements."
EVACUATIONS HAVE STARTED An evacuation decision has been made for one neighborhood due to the fire. In a statement from Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, it was stated: "Due to the ongoing forest fire and its progression, an evacuation decision has been made for our Karahıdır Neighborhood in Gürsu district. Our buses affiliated with BURULAŞ have been deployed in the village to carry out the evacuation of our citizens; Bursa Metropolitan Municipality's Vakıf Bera Sports Complex has been prepared for the accommodation of our citizens affected by the fire.
Our subsidiaries BURFAŞ and BESAŞ have started necessary preparations to meet the food and water needs of our citizens in the accommodation area. We respectfully announce to the public."
MINISTER URALOĞLU IN THE FIRE AREA Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu inspected the forest fire area between Kestel and Gürsu before leaving during his visit to Bursa. Minister Uraloğlu, Bursa Governor Erol Ayyıldız, Bursa Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Brigadier General İdris Tataroğlu, AK Party Bursa Provincial Chairman Davut Gürkan, and Gürsu Mayor Mustafa Işık received information about the rapidly growing fire due to the wind. Additionally, as the night fell, air vehicles returned while ground intervention continued with the support of water cannon vehicles.
18 VILLAGES EVACUATED IN KARABÜK The firefighting efforts continue for the fire that broke out in the forested area of Çavuşlar village, Mezarlık locality in Safranbolu district of Karabük on Wednesday at 14:42.
In the area covered with dense smoke, firefighting efforts supported by helicopters during the day are continuing from the ground throughout the night. In areas where flames and smoke have increased from time to time, efforts to extinguish the fire are ongoing.
The Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Health, the General Directorate of Security, the General Directorate of Forestry, AFAD, the Red Crescent, gendarmerie, municipalities, DSİ, provincial special administrations, Kardemir, and non-governmental organizations are supporting the firefighting efforts, with 2 planes and 23 helicopters involved.
KARABÜK-ANKARA HIGHWAY CLOSED TO TRAFFIC The forest fire in Karabük approached the highway. Traffic has been closed on the Karabük-Ankara highway in both directions.
On the other hand, a neighborhood in Cemal Ovası village and a neighborhood in Cumayanı village in the central district have been evacuated. The number of villages evacuated due to the fire has risen to 18, and the number of neighborhoods has increased to 50.
