In the forest fire that broke out in the Safranbolu and Ovacık districts of Karabük, the situation has entered its fourth day. While aerial and ground interventions continue, the villages that are approaching the flames are being evacuated one by one.

Efforts are ongoing to extinguish the fires that broke out on Wednesday at 14:42 in the forested area of the cemetery location in Çavuşlar village of Safranbolu district and at 16:29 in the marketplace area of Merkez Mahallesi in Kışla village of Ovacık.
EXTINGUISHING EFFORTS CONTINUE
In the area covered with dense smoke, extinguishing efforts supported by helicopters during the day continued from the ground throughout the night. Efforts are ongoing to extinguish the fires in the area where reinforcement teams have been directed.
The Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Health, the General Directorate of Security, the General Directorate of Forestry, AFAD, the Red Crescent, gendarmerie, municipalities, DSİ, provincial special administrations, Kardemir, and non-governmental organizations are supporting the firefighting efforts in Safranbolu and Ovacık, which include 16 helicopters, 2 planes, 31 first response vehicles, 123 water tankers, 49 water supply vehicles, 13 bulldozers, 6 trailers, 5 graders, 21 excavators, tankers, lowbeds, 3 backhoes, 4 backhoe loaders, 9 ambulances, 34 search and rescue vehicles, 20 riot control vehicles (TOMA), 2 catering vehicles, and 1441 personnel. Additionally, a fire management vehicle has also been deployed to the region.
EVICTIONS IN VILLAGES CONTINUE
The fire, which is being attempted to be brought under control, is advancing towards the villages of Üçbaş, Sofular, and Aktaş, threatening residential areas. While villages were previously evacuated as a precaution, evacuations are ongoing.
