STATEMENT FROM THE ISTANBUL GOVERNORATE
The Istanbul Governorate stated in a press release that efforts to extinguish the fire are ongoing. The statement included the following: "Our teams are continuing their intervention in the forest fire in Silivri from both land and air. In the firefighting efforts coordinated by the Forest Regional Directorate, 7 planes, 3 helicopters, 21 water tankers, 22 tankers, 50 tractors, 19 construction machines, 56 fire trucks, 67 vehicles, and 691 personnel are involved."

Due to the fire, 50 households in the Çanta neighborhood have been evacuated as a precaution. The Red Crescent has started working in the area with aid vehicles for our personnel, citizens, and volunteers working in the region. So far, approximately 100 hectares of forested area have been damaged by the fire. Our governor, Davut Gül, is monitoring the firefighting efforts from the Çanta neighborhood."
GOVERNOR GÜL: ONE PERSON CAUGHT FIRE WHILE GRILLING
After visiting the area where the fire broke out and gathering information from the teams, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül later made statements to the press following the firefighting efforts. Governor Gül said, "One of our fellow citizens was grilling in their garden when dry grass caught fire due to the wind. As a result, this situation you see emerged."
1 PERSON IN CUSTODY
Noting that the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, led by the Minister, has been organized since the first moments of the incident, Gül stated that the fire was intervened with planes and helicopters. Governor Gül also reported that the person responsible for starting the fire has been taken into custody.
