THE EXPLOSION WAS RECORDED BY THE FARM'S SECURITY CAMERA

The moment of the explosion that took place on December 24 at the factory operating near the rural Kavaklı neighborhood was recorded by a security camera belonging to a nearby farm. The security camera footage from the farm, located 600 meters away from the munitions factory, shows flames rising into the sky at 08:27 on Tuesday, December 24, due to the intensity of the explosion. The images reveal the fireball and smoke that emerged after the explosion, highlighting the severity of the incident.

"THERE WAS A VERY VIOLENT EXPLOSION"

Farm worker Ramazan Akkoyun stated that he was at home during the explosion, saying, "There was a very violent explosion, the windows shook. I looked towards the factory. When I went out on the balcony, I told my wife, 'the factory is on fire.' Then we understood the situation when people gathered."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

On December 24, an explosion and collapse occurred in the capsule production section of the munitions factory where explosives are produced in the central Karesi district of Balıkesir, resulting in the deaths of 11 people and injuries to 7 others. The funerals of 10 of the deceased were held yesterday. Following the incident, 10 people were detained as part of the ongoing investigation.
