The report from the Forensic Medicine Institute has been released regarding Op. Dr. Özlem Gültekin, who was found dead in her clinic in Izmir and was initially assessed as having had a heart attack. Examinations determined that the 48-year-old doctor died as a result of propofol poisoning, an anesthetic drug. Gültekin's estranged husband, presenter Erhan Çelik, had previously stated in a statement that his wife had a 12-year addiction to anesthetic substances.
In the investigation into the suspicious death of Op. Dr. Özlem Gültekin, who was found dead in her clinic in Izmir, plunging her loved ones into mourning, the autopsy report added to the file has been entered into the case file. In the report from the Forensic Medicine Institute, it was stated that the 48-year-old doctor died as a result of propofol poisoning, an anesthetic substance.
IN HER BLOOD AND INTERNAL ORGANS...
In the report prepared by the Forensic Medicine Institute, it was recorded that Gültekin's death occurred as a result of propofol intoxication (poisoning), an anesthetic drug. Toxicological examinations determined a high amount of propofol in Gültekin's blood; the same drug was also found in her internal organs, stomach contents, bile, and bladder fluid. It was reported that alcohol and volatile substances were not detected in the analyses performed.
HER HEART STOPPED DURING INTERVENTION
According to details reflected in hospital records and forensic medical examinations, it was determined that Gültekin's heart stopped while a serum and propofol administration was being performed at her private clinic. It was learned that health teams called to the scene and the hospital where she was taken applied cardiac massage to Dr. Gültekin for a long time.
THE CAUSE OF THE RIB FRACTURES IS...
It was assessed that some bruises and rib fractures detected on the body during the autopsy may have occurred during the cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) interventions performed at the hospital and the clinic. In light of all findings, the Forensic Medicine Institute certified the definitive cause of death as propofol poisoning.
ERHAN ÇELİK HAD ANNOUNCED IT
It had been stated by Özlem Çelik's estranged husband, Erhan Çelik, that she was addicted to anesthetic substances. After Özlem Çelik's death, Çelik, who was effectively made a target, stated in his statement that he had strived to get his wife treated.
"I SHARED THE EVIDENCE I HAD WITH THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE"
Çelik said, "I learned long after we got married, in 2023, by chance from the home security camera, that her use of anesthetics had a 12-year history. I had obtained from records on her phone and laptop how she procured these substances from outside, who sold them to her additionally, and who injected them into her. I shared all this information, documents, and visual evidence I had with the prosecutor's office. They say, 'Why didn't you do it while she was alive?' I did! Starting from 2023, for 2 years, I did everything I could for her treatment both domestically and abroad, but it didn't work; she couldn't quit."
