Master actor and presenter Kenan Işık, who had been in a coma for 10 years after suffering a brain hemorrhage, passed away at the age of 76. After the ceremony to be held tomorrow at Atatürk Cultural Center, Işık will be laid to rest at Karşıyaka Cemetery on Wednesday.
Kenan Işık, the 76-year-old actor and presenter who suffered a brain hemorrhage and fell into a coma after a sauna accident on March 21, 2014, passed away today.
TO BE REMEMBERED AT ATATÜRK CULTURE CENTER
According to information obtained from the Işık family, a ceremony will be held for Kenan Işık tomorrow at 11:00 at the Atatürk Culture Center. After the ceremony, Kenan Işık's body will be taken to Ankara. It was stated that Işık's body will be buried in Karşıyaka Cemetery after the funeral prayer to be held at Ahmet Hamdi Akseki Mosque following the noon prayer on Wednesday.
HE HAD A BRAIN HEMORRHAGE AFTER HITTING HIS HEAD
The master actor, presenter, and voice actor Kenan Işık hit his head and suffered a brain hemorrhage after losing his balance after a workout and entering a sauna on March 21, 2014. Işık, who was found to have a brain hemorrhage, underwent a 4-hour surgery. After the operation, Işık fell into a coma and had been receiving treatment at home in Germany for 10 years.
WHO IS KENAN IŞIK?
Yusuf Kenan Işık, born on October 1, 1947, in Yeşilyurt, Malatya. He started acting in school theater during his secondary education and joined Meydan Sahnesi in Ankara, where he went for high school education. After graduating from high school, he started studying Public Administration at Gazi University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and never gave up theater during his student years. He became a State Theater artist in 1972.
HE SERVED AS GENERAL ART DIRECTOR AND SCREENWRITER
In addition to his theater acting career, the master artist also served as the general art director and screenwriter for city theaters and appeared in various TV series. The famous actor also worked as a journalist for Resmi Gazete (1973-1995), Yeni Yüzyıl (1995-1998), Resmi Gazete again (1998-2000), Yeni Binyıl (2000), and Akşam (2000-2002) newspapers. He also hosted Star Haber from April 4, 2005, to August 20, 2005. However, Kenan Işık became synonymous with the game show "Kim Milyoner Olmak İster" (Who Wants to Be a Millionaire), which remained the same in content despite changing its name over time.
