A famous gang led by Jimmy 'Barbecue' Cherizier attacked a police station in the Gressier region of Port-au-Prince, killing at least 20 police officers. An international force led by Kenya has sent 400 police officers to Haiti in order to restore order. Following the attack, several gang members were killed in a strong counterattack by the police, and the leader Ti Bébé Bougoy was captured.

An international force led by Kenya has sent 400 police officers to the Caribbean country. This group, described by Haiti's interim Prime Minister Garry Conille as a "unique opportunity" for restoring order, is the first wave of the international force. "There should be no doubt about the purpose of the mission. The state will regain its power and restore its authority for all Haitians to live in peace in this country," he said.

However, members of the gang led by Jimmy 'Barbecue' Cherizier attacked the police station in Gressier, killing at least 20 police officers. The attack is believed to have started on Sunday, June 30th.

Haiti Libre reported that the attack was carried out by members of the 'Vivre Ensemble' gang coalition led by 'Barbecue'. In June 2022, it was reported that the gang recruited homeless and at-risk youth as foot soldiers in gang wars.

A shelter near the National Palace, Ti Lapli, became the target of the Bougoy, Bougoy, and 100 Jours gangs, causing its capacity to decrease by almost 10%.

Regarding the attack on the police station, reports stated that the police launched a "strong counterattack" and killed several gang members. Haiti Libre reported that Ti Bébé Bougoy, the leader of Bougoy, who claimed to be stronger than the police forces the day before the attack, was captured.

It was reported that the gangs used "heavy machinery" to demolish the police station. These machines were seized by the authorities.
