While the testimonies of suspects sent to the courthouse as part of the corruption operation at the Silivri Municipality continue, the courthouse garden suddenly turned into a battlefield. Riot police intervened in a fistfight that broke out between the relatives of a released suspect and CHP council members. Security measures have been maximized around the courthouse, where tension has escalated.
Within the scope of the corruption investigation targeting the Silivri Municipality, 18 individuals, including Mayor Bora Balcıoğlu, who were detained have been referred to the courthouse. Following their statements to the prosecutor's office, 11 people, including Balcıoğlu, were sent to court with a request for arrest, while a scuffle broke out between the parties in front of the courthouse.
THEY SOLD PARKS CHEAPLY AND CAUSED 21 MILLION TL PUBLIC DAMAGE
In the investigation conducted by the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was determined that irregularities were made in exchange for benefits in the municipality's zoning, permits, personnel recruitment, business leases, and real estate sales. According to the expert report, it was found that the public suffered a loss of 21 million 522 thousand TL as a result of selling a land designated as a municipal park area well below its value. The investigation covers charges such as bribery, extortion, bid rigging, and laundering of assets derived from crime.
MUNICIPAL ADMINISTRATION AT THE COURTHOUSE AFTER THE HOSPITAL
In the simultaneous operation, 18 people, including Deputy Mayor Fatih Yavuz, CHP Council Member Aykut Batur, Private Secretary Aşkın K., and businesspeople, were taken into custody. The suspects, who underwent health checks at Bayrampaşa State Hospital, were brought to the Silivri Courthouse to give their statements. The prosecutor's office referred 11 people, including Mayor Bora Balcıoğlu, to the Criminal Court of Peace with a request for arrest, and 7 people with a request for judicial control.
FIGHT IN THE COURTHOUSE GARDEN: RIOT POLICE INTERVENED
After the prosecutor's interrogation, an argument broke out in front of the courthouse between the relatives of Naci A., who was released under judicial control, and CHP council members.
As the verbal harassment quickly escalated, riot police intervened in the resulting scuffle. As tensions rose, Özgür Çelik directed the council members to the municipal building to prevent any further incidents. The police increased security measures at the courthouse and its surroundings.
