Mesude Evliyazade, granddaughter of Ottoman Sultan Vahdettin, reported the theft of jewelry worth a total of 11 million 650 thousand liras, including a diamond-embellished gold bracelet inherited from Ulviye Sultan, after a maid left the house. Security cameras recorded moments when the maid T.Ç. sold various items and jewelry at different intervals.
JEWELRY WORTH MILLIONS STOLEN FROM THE OTTOMAN GRANDDAUGHTER
On March 15, 2025, Mesuda Evliyazade, who reported the theft to the police, stated that a burglary had occurred in her luxury residence located on Sarıyer Caddesi in the Poligon neighborhood. In her statement, Mesuda Evliyazade said that jewelry worth a total of 11 million 650 thousand liras was stolen from her home. The victim woman noted that the diamond-embellished gold bracelet inherited from Ulviye Sultan alone was worth 6 million liras. Mesude Ulviyezade reported that the incident was carried out by the maid she had hired on a live-in basis on February 4, 2025.
THE THIEF TURNED OUT TO BE THE MAID
In the investigation initiated by the Istanbul Police Department after the incident, police examined the security cameras in the house and determined that the maid T.Ç. was taking items she collected from the house in bags every week when she went on leave. Following this development, the Theft Bureau teams detained T.Ç. in Esenyurt. During a search of T.Ç.'s home, 79 pieces of items such as bags and clothes stolen from the house were seized. Her daughter S.N.Ş., who was found to be trying to sell these items on social media, was also brought to the Public Order Branch Directorate.
The suspects, whose procedures were completed at the Theft Bureau, were referred to the courthouse. While T.Ç. was arrested and sent to prison, her daughter S.N.Ş. was released under judicial control.
