34-year-old Bahar Aksu was shot and killed by her ex-husband Rüstem Elibol (37) and three accomplices in front of the hotel where she worked part-time in Şişli, Istanbul. Elibol attempted to force Aksu into a vehicle, and when the young woman resisted, he opened fire with the gun he had with him. Aksu, who was seriously injured, died at the scene. The suspects who fled after the murder were caught and taken into custody. While the suspects' procedures at the police station were completed, Bahar Aksu's funeral was held in Edirne.
HE WAS AFTER THE INHERITANCE
At the funeral, Aksu's aunt, Nesrin Arıkan, stated that the young woman had been threatened for years.
Arıkan said, "We opposed it, but we couldn't save her from marrying. No matter how she was threatened, she got married, and the wedding took place. Her father bought a house. Her father did everything for her. But he made her a psychopath."
Arıkan, who explained that Bahar Aksu had reported Rüstem Elibol multiple times, said, "Her father is British; he stayed abroad, and because he was financially well-off, he didn't want to lose his opportunities. He should be punished with heavy penalties."
Aksu's work colleague, Sami Aron, stated, "There was no abnormality. We had been working together for 6-7 months. There was no threat, fear, or anxiety. She was a person who did her job and went home."
MURDERER AND THREE FRIENDS IN CUSTODY
The investigation into the daylight murder of Bahar Aksu in Şişli, Istanbul, is ongoing.
The incident occurred in one of the busiest areas of the city, Şişli.
In the morning, Bahar Aksu was attempted to be abducted by her ex-husband Rüstem Elibol and three friends.
After the woman screamed and resisted, Elibol pulled out his gun and fired six shots at Aksu in quick succession.
Bahar Aksu lost her life at the scene.
The suspect and his three friends are being held in custody.
RÜSTEM ELİBOL'S STATEMENT
In the investigation regarding Bahar's death, the attacker Rüstem Elibol gave a statement at the police station where he was held in custody yesterday.
The murderer, whose procedures are ongoing at the Homicide Bureau of the Public Security Branch, admitted to committing the murder.
"We got married in 2019. We divorced three years later. I couldn't accept this divorce," said Elibol, adding that he constantly followed Aksu on social media.
Elibol explained that he came to Istanbul from Çanakkale with his friends on Friday, stating that they stayed overnight and then returned to Çanakkale.
It is being considered that Elibol and his companions may have conducted reconnaissance on the street where the woman lived that night.
On the day of the incident, Elibol stated that they were waiting in the vehicle for Aksu to go to work, saying, "When I saw Aksu, I wanted to force her into the vehicle. When she resisted, I shot her."
MURDERER'S CRIMINAL RECORD IS EXTENSIVE
Additionally, it has been learned that Elibol has five criminal records, including two for using an unlicensed firearm, two for injury, and one for threats. It has also been learned that one of the individuals who assisted Elibol has a criminal record, one of which is for sexual assault.
THEY CONDUCTED RECONNAISSANCE BEFORE THE MURDER
The details of the horrific murder have also emerged. The Istanbul Public Security Branch Homicide Bureau has determined that Rüstem Elibol and the suspects S.Y. (33), S.S. (35), and A.B. (44) arrived in Istanbul three days before the incident. It has been learned that the suspects settled into a hotel during this period and conducted reconnaissance at the address where Bahar Aksu was attempted to be abducted three days before the murder.
