The search efforts for 13-year-old Aziz Şeflek, one of two siblings swept away by the current while trying to cross a stream in Bitlis, ended with tragic news. Father Bakır Şeflek managed to rescue one of his children caught in the current, while the lifeless bodies of the other two were recovered from the stream.
Near the village of Yazıcık in the Mutki district of Bitlis, around 16:00, children trying to cross a stream were swept away by the current. Father Bakır Şeflek, who entered the water to save his children, managed to rescue one of them alive, while he reached the lifeless body of his other child. Search and rescue efforts for 13-year-old Aziz Şeflek, who was also swept away, were paused yesterday and resumed in the morning.
AZIZ'S LIFELESS BODY ALSO FOUND
As a result of meticulous efforts conducted continuously along the stream and underwater by AFAD, gendarmerie, police diving teams, and other search and rescue teams, Aziz Şeflek's lifeless body was found among bushes approximately 100 meters from the point where he disappeared. After the body was recovered from the water by the teams, it was taken to the morgue for autopsy procedures following investigations by the public prosecutor and crime scene investigation teams.
TWO BROTHERS LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE STREAM
In the tragedy, it was previously announced that one of Aziz Şeflek's siblings had also died. With the discovery of Aziz's lifeless body, the number of children from the Şeflek family who lost their lives after being swept away in the stream rose to two.
