Greek Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis openly stated the rationale behind Athens' accelerating arms policy. Pointing to Turkey, Georgiadis said that their goal is "a Greece strong enough not to perceive threats from Ankara," acknowledging that Athens' military moves are directly centered on Turkey.
Greek Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis made striking statements following Turkey's successful defense industry steps that have made waves worldwide.
"WE ARE MOVING SILENTLY BUT STRONGLY" Georgiadis stated that with Athens' defense industry moves, Greece aims to catch up with Turkey, describing Greece's armament efforts as "silent but strong."

"WE ARE THINKING LONG-TERM" Stating that the steps taken are not temporary, the Greek Minister noted that this policy is part of a long-term strategy aimed at strengthening the country's position in the region and protecting national interests.
Greece had ordered F-35 fighter jets from the USA, Rafale fighter jets and frigates from France to cope with Turkey. Athens also signed agreements with Israel regarding UAVs, air defense systems, and various missiles.
