The system that will prevent the fuel price increase has found its answer.

As conflicts in the Middle East drive up oil prices, pressure for fuel price increases has risen in Turkey; with the reactivation of the Eşel Mobil system, it is planned that no price increases will be made for gasoline, diesel, and LPG up to certain price levels.

As tensions rise in the Middle East, oil prices are increasing, and the volatility in global markets has started to reflect on fuel prices in Turkey. The process, which began with the attacks by the US and Israel on Iran, has led to conflicts in the Gulf region, causing fluctuations in the oil market.

OIL PRICES SOAR

The near halt of tanker traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and the inability of some oil tankers to enter the Persian Gulf have driven up oil prices. Following these developments, new expectations for fuel price hikes have emerged.

THE ESCALATION MOBILE SYSTEM IS ON THE AGENDA

It has been stated that the expected increase of 6.69 TL in diesel prices, which is set to come into effect today, has been postponed due to expectations that the escalation mobile system will be reactivated. In this system, a portion of the increases in fuel prices is deducted from the Special Consumption Tax (SCT), limiting the reflection of price increases on pump prices.

SO HOW DOES THE SYSTEM WORK?

In the escalation mobile application, the SCT amounts are 14.8277 TL for gasoline, 13.9006 TL for diesel, and 11.3830 TL for LPG. While the portion of increases up to these limits is covered by tax reductions, when the SCT ceiling is reached, increases will be directly reflected in pump prices. In this context, it is stated that there will be no increases until the price of gasoline reaches 73.22 TL per liter, diesel reaches 75.48 TL, and LPG reaches 41.67 TL.

IT WAS REMOVED IN 2021

The escalation mobile system was previously implemented in Turkey but was removed in the last quarter of 2021 due to the increase in the exchange rate and cost pressures.
