Peanut harvesting has begun in the Kozan district of Adana. In the first harvest, peanuts are being sold for 50-60 TL per kilogram, bringing smiles to the producers, while birds searching for food behind the harvesters provided a visual feast.
One of the important production areas of the peanuts, which are a symbol of Osmaniye and grown in the fertile lands of Çukurova, is the Kozan district of Adana. This year's harvest season started in the Gökçeyol neighborhood of Kozan. In the fields where the harvest work is ongoing, cattle egrets searching for food behind the harvesters also created colorful images.
"SOLD AT 50-60 LIRA PER KILOGRAM"
Producer Adil Eker, who planted on 70 decares of land, stated that they are getting a yield of 450-500 kilograms per decare. Eker said, "The first harvest has started in our region. The yield is good. Currently, prices are between 50-60 TL, but as the harvest increases in the coming weeks, it will decrease. Our input costs are high; if prices remain at this level, it will be a good season for farmers. Osmaniye and Kozan come to mind, quality peanuts are grown here," he said. Nejat Bayrak, one of the producers who started harvesting, also expressed that the yield is good.
Another producer, Birkan Bayrak, said, "The peanut harvest has started. Fertilizer and diesel costs are high, there is drought in Kozan. Currently, prices above 50 are good, but if they fall below that, it will be difficult for us."
