(56), who was taken into custody on suspicion of stealing money from the pocket of a young man who collapsed after falling ill in the Fethiye district of Muğla, was arrested following the examination of security camera footage. The footage of the suspect, who allegedly rummaged through the young man's pocket instead of helping, drew widespread public backlash.
The suspect, accused of stealing money from the pocket of a young man who collapsed on the street after falling ill in Fethiye district of Muğla and whose heart reportedly stopped, has been arrested.
The incident occurred in Cumhuriyet Mahallesi. According to the claim, a young man suddenly collapsed while walking on the road. Instead of notifying medical teams or providing assistance, a passerby approached the motionless young man lying on the ground and rummaged through his pockets.
STOLE HIS MONEY INSTEAD OF HELPING
In footage captured by a security camera, the suspect is seen taking approximately 6,000 lira from the young man’s pocket and putting it into his own, then waiting at the scene as if nothing had happened. The footage quickly sparked widespread outrage, prompting citizens to demand the suspect’s capture.
CAUGHT ON CAMERA
Following the public release of the footage, teams from the Fethiye District Police Department’s Public Order Bureau launched an investigation. Examining security cameras in the area, the teams identified the suspect as R.Y. (56). The suspect was apprehended in an operation conducted in Seydikemer district.
COURT ISSUED ARREST WARRANT
After processing at the police station, R.Y. was referred to the courthouse and, upon being brought before a judge, was arrested and sent to prison.
