The identity of 68-year-old Iranian national Farkhondeh Ghaem Maghami, whose body was found in Kırşehir, was determined through dental implants and a plate in her foot.
The identity of the corpse found on April 23 by gendarmerie teams in a field between the villages of Yeniyapan, affiliated with the Mucur district of Kırşehir, and Büyükburnağıl, affiliated with the Hacıbektaş district of Nevşehir, was determined through a special investigation by the gendarmerie.
IMPLANTS AND PLATE DETERMINED THE IDENTITY OF THE CORPSE
Evaluating that the corpse might belong to a foreign national, the teams also conducted searches through the international missing persons system and examined relevant reports. In the identification process, dental and foot X-rays were taken, revealing 14 dental implants in the mouth and a plate in the left foot.
Gendarmerie teams determined that this information matched Maghami, for whom a missing person report had been filed, and shared the findings with Istanbul police to assist in apprehending the suspects.
WHAT HAPPENED?
In Istanbul, teams from the Public Order Branch Directorate's Missing Persons Bureau had initiated an investigation after a relative, unable to contact Maghami, filed a missing person report on May 12.
Erkan B. (49), identified as the last person Maghami, who had lived in Istanbul for 20 years, contacted and had a relationship with, was taken into custody. It was learned that the suspect, who initially denied the accusations in his first statement, later confessed to the murder and showed the crime scene to the police.
It was determined that Erkan B. strangled Maghami during an argument in the vehicle and then disposed of the body in an empty field in the Mucur district of Kırşehir. The found corpse was confirmed to belong to Maghami.
Expanding the investigation, police teams took two more suspects into custody. Erkan B., Sedef G., and Mesut A. were referred to the courthouse after police procedures.
