The Kangal dog, renowned worldwide and recognized as the best livestock guardian dog, neutralized a snake that it perceived as a threat to the herd. The brave action of the Kangal, which wanted to protect its flock at all costs, was captured on a mobile phone camera.
Known as the world's best livestock guardian dog due to their intelligence and strong physical build, Kangal dogs also stand out for their loyalty and protective nature. 'Haskız', a pregnant Kangal shepherd dog responsible for protecting a flock of sheep in Sivas, neutralized a snake approximately 2 meters long that was hiding in a tree.
NEUTRALIZED THE SNAKE BY CLIMBING THE VEHICLE
Haskız, who sprang into action the moment she saw the snake and climbed the tree to catch it, neutralized the snake. The struggle of the Kangal dog to protect her flock was captured second by second on a mobile phone camera. Expert Kangal dog breeder Hüseyin Yıldız stated that female Kangals are more sensitive when it comes to protection, saying, "Their maternal instincts are much stronger. They are in control of their emotions, which further enhances their protective instincts."

Yıldız noted that the Kangal is a source of security and a protective element for the flock and the shepherd in the mountains, stating, "My dog Haskız, in her 48-day pregnant state, neutralizes the snake by bringing it down from a tree about 4 meters high. The Kangal's senses are so strong against dangers that she climbs a tree of about 4 meters without seeing the snake, feeling it instead, and brings it down to neutralize it. Kangals have a very persistent protective effect. If you have a Kangal with you while your shepherd or children are wandering in the mountains, the family can definitely not worry about them. Female Kangals are more possessive, more sensitive, and more careful when it comes to protection. The Kangal is the greatest guarantee for a child, a shepherd, and a flock in the mountains. At that moment, it eliminates any danger it perceives in that area, whether it be a snake, scorpion, wolf, jackal, or bear," he said.
"I AM PROUD OF MY DOG"
Yıldız expressed his pride in what his dog has done to protect the flock and its owner from potential harm, saying, "My dog was very active and never stayed still when she was small. She was very sensitive to everything that could pose a danger from outside, apart from her owner. After I noticed this situation, I immediately sent her to a sheep flock. I was proud of my dog. This situation does not occur through any human intervention. She instinctively brings the snake down from the tree herself. She neutralizes the snake to ensure that the shepherd and the flock within the protection area are safe. That snake could have bitten the shepherd or the sheep. However, my dog protected them, and that made me proud as well."
