In Bornova district of Izmir, Vesim Şimşek (45), who had decided to divorce his wife Naciye Akkaplan 3 months ago and started living separately, and who was reported to be in distress, took his 4 children to a mountainous area and shot each of them with a gun. In the tragic incident, 2-year-old Ceylin, 4-year-old Cemre, and 14-year-old Nira lost their lives at the scene, while 11-year-old Hira Nur survived the incident with severe injuries. Vesim Şimşek, who also shot himself after shooting his children, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
"THEY ARE ALREADY IN HEAVEN, NO NEED FOR FORGIVENESS"
After the tragic incident, the 3 sisters who lost their lives were bid farewell with prayers in Salihli district of Manisa, where their mother lived. Before the funeral prayer performed after the noon prayer at Hz. Ömer Mosque, mother Naciye Akkaplan hugged each of her children's coffins and said goodbye to them individually, breaking hearts with her cries of "Which one should I mourn for?". Salihli Mufti Ali Çebi, who performed the funeral prayer, did not ask for forgiveness for the 3 sisters, saying "Children are already destined for heaven, there is no need for forgiveness. They are children and they will go to heaven." Meanwhile, it was reported that father Vesim Şimşek and his daughter Hira Nur are still receiving intensive care treatment in Izmir.
