Two prosecutors are working on 70 unsolved case files in Diyarbakır.

Unsolved murder and missing person cases that have remained unresolved for years across Turkey have come back to the agenda. Within the scope of the study launched by a special department established under the Ministry of Justice, 70 cases that have not been concluded since 2002 in Diyarbakır are being re-examined. Two special prosecutors have been appointed for the process in which crime scene investigation reports, evidence, witness statements, and judicial records will be re-evaluated.

The Department of Unsolved Crimes Investigation, established under the General Directorate of Criminal Affairs of the Ministry of Justice, has launched a comprehensive review of unsolved murder investigation files across Turkey. As part of these efforts, special assignments have been made for 70 files in Diyarbakır that have remained unresolved for years.

SCREENING CONDUCTED IN 81 PROVINCES

Within the scope of the study carried out by the Ministry of Justice, screenings were conducted in courthouses across all 81 provinces of Turkey. In the initial phase, a total of 638 unsolved murder investigation files and records related to 693 victims were identified in 75 provinces.

2 PROSECUTORS ASSIGNED

According to the information obtained, 1 deputy chief prosecutor and 1 public prosecutor were assigned to conduct the investigations in Diyarbakır. It was stated that during the review process, files from both the city center and the districts would be examined.



POST-2002 FILES UNDER SCRUTINY

It was learned that the files to be re-examined in Diyarbakır cover incidents that have remained unsolved from 2002 to the present day. It was stated that the evidence status, witness statements, and existing judicial records in the investigations would be re-evaluated.

The new process initiated regarding unsolved murder files is aimed at contributing to shedding light on events that have remained unresolved for many years.
