Following the overthrow of the 61-year Ba'ath regime in Syria, the lifting of the import ban has allowed trucks from Hatay to continue crossing into Syria. Despite the increasing taxes on the Syrian side, between 350 and 400 vehicles cross over each day.
After 13 years of civil war in Syria, the opposition forces ended the 61-year Baath regime. With the fall of Assad, imported products began to enter cities with high population rates, especially the capital Damascus and Aleppo.
TRUCK QUEUES CAPTURED BY DRONE FROM THE AIR
After many years, products from Turkey have started to reach every corner of Syria. The expansion of trade volume between Turkey and Syria has also reflected on the border gates in Hatay. The number of vehicles at the border gates has reached approximately 2,000. Although there are issues among traders due to increased taxes after the change of administration in Syria, vehicle queues continue to form at the border gates. The massive truck queues at the border gates have been captured by drone from the air.
400 VEHICLES CROSS DAILY
After the fall of the 61-year Baath regime in Syria and the lifting of the import ban, the passage of trucks from Hatay to Syria continues. Despite the increased taxes on the Syrian side, between 350 and 400 vehicles cross daily.
"OUR TRADE INCREASED WITH THE END OF THE WAR"
Orhan Güngör, who stated that there was no congestion during the war, said, "We had no problems during the crossings in wartime, and there was not this much congestion. We didn't have to wait in line before, but now we wait for 3 to 5 days. That's why there is a lot of congestion. With the end of the war, our trade has increased," he said.
"TRUCKS ARE CROWDED BUT DISSIPATING OVER TIME"
Cuma Yumuşak, who stated that there is congestion at the Cilvegözü Border Gate, said, "There is indeed a lot of congestion here. The trucks are crowded, but they are dissipating over time. In the past, the passage of trucks was less, but now it has increased," he expressed.
