The judge who presided over one of the trials involving Dilan and Engin Polat, a couple that Turkey has been talking about for months, has decided to recuse himself. In his written petition, the judge claimed that Dilan Polat's lawyer had exerted pressure on him to have a private meeting. The judge stated that he had rejected the lawyer's requests and persistent attitude during and after the trial.
"Money laundering" and many other crimes, Dilan and Engin Polat couple, who are detained for many crimes, including, an important development occurred in the instigation case. The judge who handled the case that became the agenda of Turkey withdrew from the case.
An unexpected development occurred in the attack case where Dilan and Engin Polat were tried for instigation. According to the news of İhsan Yalçın from Kanal D, the judge of Küçükçekmece 3rd Criminal Court of First Instance, where the Polat couple was tried for instigation, withdrew from the case.
DILAN POLAT'S LAWYER PRESSURED
The judge explained the reason for the withdrawal decision in a petition. The judge claimed in the petition that Dilan Polat's lawyer, Lawyer Hüseyin Kaya, put pressure on him to meet privately. The judge also stated that he rejected the incidents and requests of the lawyer during and after the trial, but Kaya continued his insistent attitude.
THE JUDGE'S PETITION EMERGED
In the petition containing the withdrawal request, the judge stated, "After the identification of the file with the main number belonging to our court and the establishment of an interim decision, it was understood that the defendant Dilan Polat's lawyer, Lawyer Hüseyin Kaya, verbally threatened the judge in the presence of the bailiff in the corridor between the courtroom and the office and forcibly entered the judge's office on 03.06.2024 around 11:00. The judge recorded this situation and filed a complaint, and legal proceedings were initiated against Lawyer Hüseyin Kaya with the approval of the Ministry of Justice dated 03.06.2024 and numbered .... In addition, the trial judge stated that Lawyer Hüseyin Kaya tried to pressure him to meet in his office, but this meeting did not take place in the office, and stated that his belief in performing his duty was undermined due to all these incidents and therefore requested withdrawal from the case.".
WHAT HAPPENED?
In the operations carried out on November 1, 2023, in 6 provinces centered in Istanbul and subsequently, 24 suspects, including Dilan Polat and her husband Engin Polat, were detained. While 16 of the suspects, including Dilan Polat, Engin Polat, and Sıla Doğu, were arrested, the court ruled for the appointment of trustees to 27 companies.
At the Bakırköy Women's Closed Prison, where Dilan Polat, who is detained within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, is imprisoned, her lawyer wrote a petition to the prosecutor's office, stating that it is not suitable for her client to stay in prison due to health problems and requested her release. Evaluating the petition, the chief prosecutor's office decided to refer Dilan Polat to the forensic medicine institution.
