According to the regulation published in the Official Gazette, the KPSS requirement for teacher appointments has been removed. As of September 1, 2025, this requirement will no longer be sought for teacher appointments. Until this date, the old regulation will remain in effect. The Minister of National Education announced that they will organize an exam called the Academy Entrance Exam (AGS) instead of KPSS. THE MINISTER ANNOUNCED THE NEW PERIODThe Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, stated, "There will be no KPSS for our teacher candidate friends in 2025. With the protocol we made with ÖSYM, we organized an exam called the Academy Entrance Exam (AGS). It will be held for the first time on July 13, 2025. Based on the AGS results, we will initiate the appointment process and the entry process to the National Education Academy. After the training in the Academy, we will have employed our teacher friends." WHAT IS THE ACADEMY ENTRANCE EXAM?The academic entrance exam known as AGS will be conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). In AGS, the programs approved by the Board of Education and Discipline will be significant. This change aims to evaluate teacher candidates not only based on exam scores but also through their education and practical processes. HOW WILL THE ACADEMY ENTRANCE EXAM BE CONDUCTED?The exam will be held in two sessions: the 2025 Academy Entrance Exam (AGS) and the 2025 Teaching Field Knowledge Test (ÖABT). Accordingly, for teacher candidates in biology, geography, science/science and technology, physics, primary school mathematics, chemistry/chemical technology, mathematics, preschool, guidance, classroom teaching, social studies, history, Turkish, Turkish language and literature, physical education, and religious culture and moral knowledge/imam hatip high school vocational courses, the MEB-AGS score will be determined by taking 50% of the AGS score and 50% of the ÖABT score. For candidates in German, Arabic, Chinese, French, Persian, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, and English teaching, the AGS and the Foreign Language Proficiency Exam (YDS or e-YDS) will be taken into account. Accordingly, the MEB-AGS score of the candidates will be calculated by summing 50% of the AGS score and 50% of the YDS score. In this context, when calculating the scores in the foreign language area, the highest exam score from the YDS or e-YDS that candidates took in the same year and before the AGS will be used. Teacher candidates will be asked 80 questions in the AGS within the scope of MEB-AGS. The exam will cover topics such as verbal and numerical skills, history, geography of Turkey, the foundations of education, and the Turkish national education system and legislation (the constitution, the 1739 National Education Basic Law, the 222 Primary Education and Training Law, the 7528 Teaching Profession Law). The ÖABT session will consist of 50 questions aimed at assessing the candidates' field knowledge.
