Kremlin Special Representative Kirill Dmitriev announced that a meeting will take place between Russian leader Putin and U.S. President Trump.
After U.S. President Donald Trump announced the cancellation of the summit scheduled to be held in Budapest, Hungary, with Russian President Vladimir Putin, another statement came from the Kremlin in the opposite direction.
Kremlin Special Representative Kirill Dmitriev stated in an interview with CNN, "The summit will take place." In his statement, Dmitriev also mentioned that they are close to a diplomatic solution regarding Ukraine, saying, "I am sure a diplomatic solution will be achieved in Ukraine."
"THE IDEA OF A MEETING DID NOT SEEM RIGHT"
U.S. President Trump met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House yesterday. After the meeting, Trump held a press conference and announced that he had canceled the planned face-to-face meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Trump said, "The idea of meeting with Putin did not seem right, and I canceled it. Whenever I talk to Putin, it’s a good conversation, but it doesn’t lead anywhere."
