According to Egedensöz's news, while security intervened with workers who wanted to work as permanent staff in the municipality, it was noteworthy that Özel continued his speech. Those moments were recorded by cameras.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Workers employed by the subcontractor company that was awarded the cleaning job of the city toilets by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality went on strike before the new year, demanding secure jobs, and started a protest in front of the municipality saying "no to subcontracting." İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Cemil Tugay threatened the workers who were trying to make their voices heard by opening a banner in front of the İzmir Sanat building, saying, "Don't stay here, if you continue to stay here, I won't let you work in that company either."

Immediately after Tugay's remarks, the protesting workers were dismissed.
