The spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, Abu Ubaida, announced that Muhammad Deif, the leader of the Izzedin al-Qassam Brigades, has been killed. Ubaida also stated that six commanders accompanying Deif have also lost their lives.

ISRAEL HAD SAID HE WAS DEAD

The Israeli army claimed to have confirmed the death of Muhammad Deif, the leader of the Izzedin al-Qassam Brigades, during an attack on a safe zone where displaced Palestinians were sheltering in the Gaza Strip on July 13, 2024.

The then Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant, also stated in his announcement that Deif's death had been confirmed in the assassination carried out by the Israeli army and internal intelligence agency.

WHO IS MUHAMMAD DEIF?

The commander of Hamas's armed wing, Izzedin al-Qassam Brigades, Muhammad Deif (Abu Khalid) has emerged only a few times over the past twenty years with an unknown voice and image. No one knows him except for senior Hamas officials. Israel, which has placed a bounty on his head, only knows him by that darkened image and footage.

Born Muhammad Diab Ibrahim al-Masri in 1965 in the city of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, Deif was born in an environment where the first bullets were fired to liberate Palestine, amid the resistance that Palestinians began against Israel.
